Catching Up

Ah, my poor neglected blog. There's been plenty to write about. Just not so much time for the writing.

Thanksgiving was blissfully pleasant. We traveled 5 hours south to spend the holiday with my extended family. The weather was sunny and mild, so the kids were able to play outside, in the leaves:

And my mom and brother-in-law were able to pick up pecans from my grandma's tree. We brought a bag home with us, and I spent my spare moments one day shelling them.

Here's Isaac getting some love from Grandpa.

Also over the Thanksgiving weekend I got to use my new sewing machine to make a nightgown for Millie. I'm so pleased with how it turned out, especially considering this was my first time sewing anything. My sister was so great to walk me through the process, and my mom was there to help answer questions too. I haven't been able to convince Millie to pose for me, so instead you see her wearing it here, in all her bedraggled glory. Can I just say that I LOVE that ruffle at the bottom? My mom got the material with Millie in mind, considering her love of cats.

Then we came home to snow falling, and the kids wasted no time getting out to play in it.

So now I'm thinking about more sewing projects, gifts for Christmas, and hosting a friend from Hong Kong next week. December promises to be a full month.
